Troubleshooting

Check whether the problem is file recognition, parsing, comparison or decoding. Try a valid file of the same format; use PDF page visuals for scanned pages and a supported browser or encoding for audio. Unknown or failed content is not a successful equal result.

File encoding

If text looks garbled, choose the intended encoding before editing the loaded file. UTF-8, UTF-16 and supported legacy encodings are different ways to interpret bytes; changing case or whitespace rules cannot repair a wrong decoding.

PDF compare

No OCR. Text extraction may reorder columns or unusual glyphs; text equality does not establish visual equality.

Use Page visuals to compare their appearance. Text comparison requires a text layer in the PDF.

Excel compare

Yes. Compare cell values and formulas. Formula results use the values saved in the workbook.

No formula recalculation. Missing cached results remain unchecked. Charts, styles and macros are not fully compared.

Audio compare

No speech recognition, loudness normalization or alignment of multiple internal edits. Decoding depends on the browser.

Reading results

No important differences means agreement within the selected mode and rules. It does not establish identical file bytes, identical appearance or identical metadata. Check the relevant modes separately.
